Summary

As part of the European Union Support to the Educational and Labour Sectors of the Republic of Tajikistan project, a seminar was held on the development of Methodological Guidelines for Formative Assessment, which is considered an essential component for improving the quality of education.

The seminar was attended by Ravshan Karimzoda, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan; Diana Dimova, Programme Manager of the EU Delegation in Tajikistan; primary education teachers; as well as trainers from the Republic of Kazakhstan who joined online.

Deputy Minister Ravshan Karimzoda emphasized the need to introduce formative assessment as a key tool for students’ personal development and for improving the quality of teaching and learning.

Diana Dimova, EU Delegation Programme Manager, highlighted the important contribution of the European Union to the development of the education sector and reaffirmed the EU’s readiness to continue its support.

The Government of the Republic of Tajikistan has undertaken the initiative to reform the education sector, with the introduction of an innovative education system as one of its key priorities.
